spring falls to flight

draft blown

past beer to belly

wings spread-escape planned

air thickened

like water for a swim

high-wire sports bird

on wing or prayer

to sputter whispers

in rancid tones of

"there-there" in

pears and triplicate

fir and comfort

above the pine

falls to flight

in dodge of

blanks or bullets

lobbed from lips of killers

don't fight the fall

spring's the thing that

lobs a person's spirit

higher than artillery

drip the blue

to earth and ether

turn the leaf

fill the cup

from cloud to ground

and bolt to soar.
